What's the main objective of this new pivot?

8 months have passed since we opened our first Public Mint in May 2022, and as many have already seen, despite the current market conditions, we've put our heart, dedication, and energy into our craft to start building the foundations of our web3 ecosystem to prove that we're here to imagine a fun web3 future for Samurices! **Our objectives are simple:** * Bring the project out of stasis by revealing the beauty of the entire collection. * Open up opportunities by welcoming new members. Help the project grow! * Shedding light and awareness of what we are cooking up with our brand. * Being recognized for our true value as a strong community in this space.

Why did this pivot take so long?

For those who have only recently discovered us and have been out of touch with our development, there is a need for context: From November 2021 to its launch in May 2022, Samurices was born from the initiative of two professional minds and artists who share a passion for Japanese food and culture. An extraordinary 8-month adventure in which everything has been built organically, from its community to the culmination of years of work on the design of the collection and the organization of everything that a project of our scale entails. Unfortunately, just as we were launching, we were hit by the severe bear market that we have all experienced recently. Despite this, we continued to fight for our vision and to build the foundations of our ecosystem as we had promised to the community. We felt that more light and awareness would have been shed on the project if we had shown commitment and passion to our craft every day and that we were cooking up something serious. The market being what it is, it didn't go according to plan, but that hasn't stopped us from forging ahead 💪. We are still here! Expanding our team to take some of the load off Fistbumpdraw's shoulders on the code side of things (Lead artist and Dev of the project), so that he could draw more beautiful things to enrich our brand universe, was one of the first things we needed to start building our web3 ecosystem. With the initial funds we have raised thanks to our early and beloved supporters, we have been able to start building the foundations of our future with the community, but not yet the team expansion. So we have continued to be professional. Admittedly, it has been a little slower than we would have been able to do with more people, but for now, it is enough to build at this pace. That is why we are here today - to make a fresh start!

Why not go Free Mint for Public?

It's a risk for what we are cooking up with our web3 ecosystem and we can't afford to gamble with the future of the project. In order to keep building, maintaining, and enriching the ecosystem with tons of fun new mechanics, we need funds to materialize our brand vision. **Also, all transactions within the Cookshido School are gasless for our holders. But it’s not for us, we pay the fees on your behalf!** The average cost of a transaction within our ecosystem (e.g. the rolling of a boba) is currently 0.03-0.04 MATIC due to the recent increase in gas prices. At the moment, we are doing more than 150 rolls a day in the GACHABOBA, which costs us 4.5-6 MATIC a day, which is equivalent to 6-8 dollars a day. We process approximately $200-250 worth of transactions over a month. It should also be noted that this perspective -> And these are stats from the Gachaboba for only 1721 Samurices and 690 holders. In the case we manage to sell out, these numbers would be much higher, and with the development of the Gachaforge, the Treasure room, and many more surprises we have in mind, it will translate to even more transactions a day by a single holder and thus, more fees to pay. As a result, **the reason for setting the price to 0.01 eth instead of going free mint is to keep our ecosystem functional.**

Would you have enough funds to continue going from 0.05 to 0.01?

Less funding means that we have to rethink what we want to produce. Originally, the 0.05 price tag would have allowed us to develop the brand on a larger scale through the implementation of high-quality merchandising, but most importantly, to grow our team (of 2) and help us develop our web3 ecosystem quicker and our brand as a whole. These plans have been put on hold, and for now, we are solely focusing on developing our web3 ecosystem. **We see this new pivot not as a way to sell at a lower cost, but as a new opportunity for us and the community to move forward as a respected, ethical, and fun project in this space.** A lot has happened since we launched, and all of the steps outlined above are essential for a project of our size to keep moving forward. Why is raising the royalty rate beneficial?

Simply because, even if our ecosystem is running with *gasless transactions,* the royalties contribute to financing the cost of each transaction that we are taking on your behalf during your game sessions within the 🏯 [**Cookshido School**](/web3/cookshido-school)**.** Some projects choose to let you pay the gas fees on your own, but **for us, having fun = 0 fees.** And as said in the question *« Why not go free mint? »* the fees will be much higher as we will welcome new holders and new mechanics and rooms in the 🏯 [**Cookshido School**](/web3/cookshido-school)**.** The funds from the public mint won’t be enough in the long run so we naturally decided that we needed to increase our royalty rate to ensure the long-term health of our ecosystem and thus, maintain a great user experience for our holders by continuing to take care of their gas fees.

I am **SHIBA INOUE.** \ \ If my name sounds familiar to you, it is because it was a difficult choice that my father had to make in his own time. He was a famous draughtsman in one of the biggest publishing houses in Japan. After being fired by his employer, he had to give up everything and move to another city with my mother. And the reason for this? Publishing a manga about samurais when the trend was Shônen. Since his reputation was in tatters, he had no choice but to change his name and be anonymous. That's why he naturally chose the name of one of his favorite mangaka, Takehiko Inoue. Author of the famous Seinen book 'Vagabond'. I wanted to follow in my father's footsteps and become the hero he had always wanted to draw, in order to redeem his honor: To be a respected samurai. This is how I grew up and joined the legendary [⚔️](https://emojipedia.org/crossed-swords/) **Shibas Shotokan Clan,** a dojo renowned for having trained the greatest samurais of all time and a representative of the city of 🏔️ **Kotama.** Dedicated to Bushido all my life, my boundless ambition (and boredom with taking orders) led me to be banished from the clan forever and become a Rōnin, an unemployed samurai in search of a new path. Funny how my life followed my father's path... One day, a counselor gave me several ideas for a new career, as I had no idea what to do with my time. Building temples? Too austere for me. Woodworking? I can work with wood, but only with dummies. And why not... Chef? From that particular moment, my profession has been evidence and an epiphany for me. I started learning the basics, then invented things with my hands until my techniques matured.

## ⋰ 2 **✦** The art of Cookshido

During my years as an apprentice, I used to work hard in small local restaurants to silently perfect my art. Because of my reserved temperament, people still watched me as a fallen Samurai. So, I isolated myself a bit from people to fully invest my time in my own creations. As I progressed in my art, my techniques became more and more precise and elaborate and I felt my mastery growing day by day. I used to practice day and night, at work and at home, during my lunch breaks, while setting the table in that dingy restaurant. Until the day I got tired of working for other people's dreams: it was time for me to follow my own. So I quit and decided to open my very first restaurant. My insatiable desire to bring a new breath to Japanese cuisine pushed me more and more to imagine my own culinary art and mastered it: the one and only noble art that I finally named 🔪**Cookshido**. A skillful blend of ancestral techniques and masteries, combining the subtle art of cooking with the traditional customs of the Samurais. A few months later, I get the keys to my first restaurant. It was not yet the one I dreamed of, but its sobriety was perfect to start practicing and working actively. I was so excited about my new life, but in the meantime, I used to be constantly tired of my heavy loneliness and I rarely saw my parents as I was very busy with everything. I couldn't manage all the tasks in the kitchen. The amount of work to be done was so overwhelming that I needed apprentices to help me prepare the recipes, dress the plates, wash the dishes, sharpen the knives, and especially serve my customers. With this in mind, and now mastering the 🔪 **Cookshido** near to perfection, I decided to search for something that would keep me company.

## ⋰ 3 **✦** Birth of Samurices

While searching through my various Cookshido manuals written by myself to keep all my recipes in one place, I came across a very old idea that I never had the courage to finish because of lack of time, but which would allow me to cook the perfect Onigiris. Combined with a special Traditional Rice of my own creation, this recipe was supposed to potentially breathe life into these Onigiris. I used to call this unique recipe: **Omusubi Samurisu,** but I finally give it the name **Samurices.** Since the number 7 brings luck in Japan, I decided to start my experiments first and foremost by cooking only 7 Onigiris that I have carefully prepared. But things got complicated and I couldn't get to the end of the recipe. The problem was that the 7 Originals did not last long and started to expire very fast until they died for good. But I never gave up and after these first failures, I finally was able to prepare more than one hundred of them! As time passed, I saw them grow up and they quickly became my pride. My recipe had finally worked, it was an incredible sensation to see my creations alive. Immediately considering them as my children, they started to help me out in so many tasks at the Restaurant. Their different characters made them gradually form **7 Foodlines**, each with their own interests and passions. But as the years went by, the more they grew up the more they become little naughty kids, teenagers that always make trouble. In Japan, we have a word for them: **"Kuso Gaki" (クソガキ).** Yet, they had unprecedented intelligence and I had to share my creation with the world, to give people the opportunity to continue their lives and pursue their dreams with the help of my Samurices. It was a way for me to repent and help others in some way.

## ⋰ 4 **✦** A Restaurant like no other

As hundreds of my kids were growing up alongside me, I needed more space. A much larger restaurant to develop my main ambition of making it a unique place, with an unexpected particularity: besides eating delicious homemade dishes, my customers would have the possibility to adopt new **Samurices** and learn the **Cookshido** in a special school within the building. A new restaurant was born and was soberly named **SAMURICES RESTAURANT.** # Foodlines The different families that make up the Samurices

## ⋰ 4 ✦ **Artworks requirements** First and foremost we want our collaborator friends to have fun! The unique piece you are going to create will be one of the coolest rewards to get for our community in addition to the originality of the work created. To better fit our creative proposal, here are some guidelines to help you understand the fundamentals: 1. **MAIN ARTWORK:** Must be created in a square format, with a minimum resolution of 2000px X 2000px, and saved as a high-quality JPEG. Preferably, the Boba should be at the center of the artwork, in keeping with the overall art direction we put in place in our ecosystem. Otherwise, we encourage creativity, so if you have other ideas, there is plenty of scopes for you to put into practice! 2. **BOBA AS PNG:** We also need a PNG version of the Boba only *(Transparent background)* that will be used as an integrated image to match our UI/UX integration and brand promotion through our different social channels.

## ⋰ 3 ✦ **Origins of the Keys** At the origin, the 🗝️ **Keys of the Apprentice** was a magical artifact forged like a Katana in a sacred material, unbreakable, and bearing the mark of the **Shiba Shotokan Clan** the ancient Samurai clan from which @Shiba Inoue has been banned. But the forged key alone is not enough, a secret ingredient allows it to confer magical virtues unsuspected until then. This ingredient, used in powder form, is a prized ore called the **Ancestral Wasabi**. An ingredient well known to Japanese gourmets but unknown in its magical form and that the great samurai masters had secretly given to Shiba Inoue in his youth when he arrived at the **Shibe Shotokan Clan**. Never used before, this is the magic ingredient that also gave life to **Samurices**, a single pinch of which is enough to give magical properties to all things!
